A Look Back: Westboro's History

Westboro was officially planned and started in 1881. Railroad officials chose the name "Westboro" for the new city. A post office has been open in Westboro since it was founded in 1881.

Famous People from Westboro

Merton F. Utter (1917–1980) was born in Westboro. He was a very important scientist who studied tiny living things (microbiologist) and how chemicals work in living things (biochemist).

Today, students in Westboro attend schools in the Tarkio R-I School District.

From 1882 to 1995, Westboro had its own school district, called Westboro R-IV. Westboro High School closed in 1967. After that, high school students from Westboro started going to school in Tarkio. The next year, junior high students also began attending school in Tarkio. The Westboro district continued to teach students from kindergarten to 6th grade until 1995. That year, the district joined with Tarkio's school district because of money problems.
