Westport is a small town in Pawnee County, Oklahoma, United States. In 2020, the town had 448 people living there. This was a big jump from 298 people in 2010, and 264 people in 2000.

History of Westport

Westport is a newer town compared to many others in northeast Oklahoma. It officially became a town in the mid-1960s. This happened after Lake Keystone was finished. Most of the homes in Westport were built between 1960 and 1979.

The first time the government counted people in Westport was in 1970. There were 146 residents then. The number of people living in Westport reached its highest point of 325 in 1990. However, it dropped to 264 by 2000. This drop might have been because a very strong tornado hit the area in 1991. After that, the population started to grow again in the next two counts. Most people who work in Westport travel to jobs in nearby cities like Stillwater or Tulsa.

Westport's Geography

According to government reports, Westport covers a total area of about 8.4 square miles (22 square kilometers). About 4.0 square miles (10 square kilometers) of this area is land. The rest, about 4.5 square miles (11.6 square kilometers), is water. This means that more than half of Westport's total area is water.
