Wevok (pronounced Wee-vok) was a small village in Alaska, located in the western part of the North Slope Borough. It was an unincorporated area, meaning it didn't have its own local government like a city or town. Its name comes from the Iñupiaq word Uivvaq, which is also the name for nearby Cape Lisburne. The village was once home to the Iñupiat people, who are native to this part of Alaska. Wevok was located about 5 kilometers (3 miles) west of Cape Lisburne. The highest point in the area is about 17 meters (56 feet) above sea level.

Wevok's History and People

Wevok was a very small village. It appeared only once in the official United States Census records. This was in 1880, when it was listed as "Cape Lisburne." At that time, 13 people lived there, and all of them were Inuit (another name for the Iñupiat people). After 1880, the village was no longer reported in the census.

Wevok's Climate and Weather

Wevok has a very cold climate, known as a tundra climate. This means that even in the warmest month, the average temperature is only around 7 degrees Celsius (45 degrees Fahrenheit). The weather in Wevok is greatly affected by the nearby Bering Sea and Chukchi Sea.

The coldest months of the year are usually February and March. The warmest time is typically from late July to early August. Even then, it's still quite cool!
