Whitcomb is a small place in Benton County, Washington, United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it is not officially a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it is part of the larger county.
Whitcomb is located about 22 miles south of Prosser. You can find it on the north bank of the Columbia River, near Canoe Canyon.

Whitcomb has an interesting past. It was not always called Whitcomb.
How Whitcomb Got Its Name
The community was first known as Luzon. On January 31, 1910, its name was changed to Whitcomb. This new name honored a person named G. Henry Whitcomb.
The Old Post Office
For many years, Whitcomb had its own post office. It opened on April 10, 1909. The post office helped people send and receive mail. It was an important part of the community. However, it closed down on October 31, 1934.
