Whitefield is a small town located in Lincoln County, Maine, United States. In 2020, about 2,408 people lived there.
The town is named after George Whitefield, a famous British speaker who visited the American colonies. He inspired many people before Whitefield was settled in 1770. Most of the first settlers were Irish Catholics. They remembered George Whitefield when the town officially became a town in 1809.
More recently, Whitefield was the childhood home of Sean and Jamie Oshima. They are brothers who formed the folk-pop music group called Oshima Brothers.
