Widnau is a town, also called a municipality, in Switzerland. It's located in the canton of St. Gallen, in an area known as Rheintal.

History of Widnau
Widnau became its own town in 1883. Before that, it was part of another town called Diepoldsau.
Geography of Widnau
Widnau covers an area of about 4.2 square kilometers (1.6 square miles). A large part of this land, about 59%, is used for buildings and roads. About 34% is used for farming. A small part, 2.4%, is covered by forests. The rest of the land includes rivers or lakes.
The town is right on the border with Austria. You can cross into Austria using the Wiesenrainbrücke. This bridge goes over the Rhine River. It also has a special track that was once used for managing the river.

The coat of arms for Widnau has a special design. It shows a wavy blue stripe on a gold background. Below the stripe, there are green grass tufts. On top of everything, there is a green willow tree with a red trunk.
