Wild Horse is a small, quiet place in Cheyenne County, Colorado, United States. It is called an unincorporated community. This means it is not officially a city or town with its own local government.
The community got its name from a nearby stream called Wild Horse Creek. It started way back in 1869. First, it was a place where soldiers (cavalry) stayed. Soon after, it became a train station. By the mid-1870s, it had grown into a small town.
Wild Horse was busiest in the early 1900s. But in 1917, a big fire burned down most of the town. People rebuilt it, but it never became as big or as busy as it was before the fire. By the 1930s, the population started to get smaller again.
Today, Wild Horse still has a post office that has been open since 1904. This post office serves the area with ZIP Code 80862. There is also an old one-room schoolhouse, but it is not used anymore. You can also see a few older small homes there.
