The Creek's Journey
Willamina Creek begins its journey northeast of Stony Mountain. It flows south, passing under Willamina Creek Road. This road actually follows the creek for about 18 miles (29 km) all the way to Willamina.
The creek then turns west and goes over Willamina Falls. This happens about 16 to 17 miles (26 to 27 km) from where it ends. After the falls, it enters Tillamook County.
It then turns south again, flowing through parts of the Tillamook State Forest. After this, it re-enters Yamhill County about 13 miles (21 km) from its mouth.
The creek passes by Buck Hollow Cemetery. Then it flows through Blackwell Park, which is about 5 miles (8 km) from its end. Finally, it turns east at Willamina and joins the South Yamhill River. Some smaller streams that flow into Willamina Creek are Cedar, East, Coast, and Tindle creeks.
Willamina Falls
Willamina Falls is a beautiful waterfall on the creek. It's described as a "veiling plunge." This means the water falls straight down like a curtain.
The waterfall is about 40 feet (12 meters) high and 20 feet (6 meters) wide. A lot of water flows over it, especially in winter and spring. The land around the waterfall is private, so you can't visit it easily.
