William Marcus de la Poer Horsley Beresford, 4th Baron Decies (born January 12, 1865 – died July 30, 1910) was an important person from a noble family in Ireland and England. He held special titles like Deputy Lieutenant (DL) and Justice of the Peace (JP).

William Marcus de la Poer Horsley Beresford was born on January 12, 1865. He was the oldest of five sons. His father was William Horsley-Beresford, 3rd Baron Decies, a Captain in the army. His mother was Catherine Anne Dent.
William went to famous schools. He studied at Eton College and then at Christ Church, Oxford University.
What He Did
When his father passed away on July 3, 1893, William became the 4th Baron Decies. A Baron is a title of nobility, like a lord.
He also served as a Deputy Lieutenant for Northumberland. This role meant he helped the Lord-Lieutenant, who represents the King or Queen in a county. He was also a Justice of the Peace for Northumberland. This meant he helped keep law and order in the area.
Lord Decies was known for loving sports. He enjoyed hunting and all kinds of outdoor activities. He even owned several racehorses.
His Family Life
On March 12, 1901, Lord Decies married Maria Gertrude Willoughby. Their wedding took place at St Michael's Church, Chester Square in London. Maria's brother, Sir John Willoughby, was there to support her. William's brother, Captain John Graham Beresford, was his groomsman.

Lord Decies died suddenly on July 30, 1910, when he was 45 years old. He was at a horse race at Alexandra Park Racecourse and became unwell because of the hot weather.
Since he did not have any children, his younger brother, John, became the next Baron Decies.
