Sir William George Coxen (born March 23, 1867 – died April 7, 1946) was an important British businessman and politician. He held many significant roles in London, including being the Lord Mayor of London during the early part of World War II.

Sir William George Coxen was born in Southwark, a part of London, in 1867. He was the oldest child of George Nickels Coxen and Fanny Luxton. He went to school at Ongar Grammar School in Essex and later studied at King's College London.

During the First World War, Sir William played a part by serving as the leader, or Commanding Officer, of the 4th Battalion of the London Volunteer Rifles. This shows he was dedicated to helping his country during a difficult time.

Sir William's Political Career

After the war, Sir William became very active in public service and politics in London. He held several important positions:

  • He was the Mayor of Holborn from 1919 to 1920. A mayor is the head of a city or town's government.
