Playing Days
Willie grew up in Detroit, Michigan. He played college football at Anderson College, which is now called Anderson University, in Anderson, Indiana. He was a versatile player, meaning he played more than one position. He was a running back, who carries the ball, and a defensive back, who helps stop the other team from scoring.
After college, Willie played semi-pro football for three seasons. He was part of the Los Angeles Mustangs team in the Western Professional League.
Coaching Career
Willie Williamson spent several years coaching football teams. He worked as an assistant coach and later became a head coach at the college level.
Coaching at Albany State
From 1980 to 1981, Willie was the head football coach for the Albany State Golden Rams. During his time there, his team won 4 games and lost 10.
Coaching at Kentucky State
In 1984, Willie became the head coach for the Kentucky State Thorobreds in Frankfort, Kentucky. His time as coach at Kentucky State ended early in October 1984. He was replaced by Theo Lemon as the interim head coach.
Willie also coached at high schools, including Norfolk Catholic High School and Surry County High School in Virginia. He even volunteered as an assistant coach at Ferguson High School.
