Wilson City is a small village located in Mississippi County, Missouri, in the United States. In 2020, the village had a population of 77 people.

History of Wilson City

Wilson City was built in the early 1940s. It was part of a bigger plan called the "Delmo Project." This project was created by the Farm Security Administration. Its goal was to help farmers who had lost their land. These farmers were often called tenant farmers because they rented land instead of owning it.

At first, Wilson City was known as "North Wyatt." It was also called the "North Wyatt Group." By the late 1960s, the village got its current name, Wilson City. The Delmo Project built several villages, and each was set up for different groups of people. Wilson City was one of four villages made for African Americans.

Geography and Location

Wilson City is in the northeastern part of Mississippi County. It is about 5 miles (8 km) southwest of where the Mississippi and Ohio rivers meet. The small town of Wyatt is about a mile south of Wilson City, along Missouri Route 77.

U.S. Route 62 is a main road that connects Wilson City to other places. It goes west to Charleston, which is the main town of the county. The road also goes northeast to Cairo, Illinois.

The U.S. Census Bureau says that Wilson City covers a total area of about 0.08 square miles (0.21 km2). All of this area is land, with no water.
