How Winkelman Got Its Name
The town of Winkelman is named after Peter Winkelman. He was a local cattleman who lived in the area a long time ago.
Where Winkelman Is Located
Winkelman is found at the southern tip of Gila County. It is right next to another town called Hayden. South of Winkelman, in Pinal County, is the community of Dudleyville.
The town covers a total area of about 1.9 square kilometers (0.77 square miles). Almost all of this area is land. The Gila River flows along the eastern and southern edges of the town.
