Woodbury Center is a special area in Litchfield County, Connecticut, in the United States. It's called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's a place that the government counts for population, but it's not a separate town.
Woodbury Center includes two small villages, Woodbury and North Woodbury. It also has homes in the surrounding area of the larger town of Woodbury. In 2010, about 1,294 people lived in Woodbury Center. The whole town of Woodbury had about 9,975 people.
Where is Woodbury Center?
Woodbury Center is in the middle-south part of the town of Woodbury. It sits in a valley near the Pomperaug River. The villages of Woodbury and North Woodbury are on the west side of this area. To the east, you'll find the Orenaug Hills, which are about 509 feet (155 meters) high.
The area is surrounded by natural features and roads. Bacon Pond Road is to the east. Old Sherman Hill Road, South Pomperaug Avenue, and Pomperaug Road are to the south. The Pomperaug River is to the west. To the north is the Nonewaug River, which flows into the Pomperaug.
Roads and Travel
U.S. Route 6 goes through Woodbury Center. It runs north to south and is known as Main Street here. Route 6 can take you about 7 miles (11 km) northeast to Watertown. If you go south about 5 miles (8 km), you'll reach Southbury and Interstate 84.
Other important roads also start or pass through Woodbury Center. Connecticut Route 47 begins in North Woodbury. It goes northwest about 8 miles (13 km) to Washington. Connecticut Route 317 starts in Woodbury village and heads west about 6 miles (10 km) to Roxbury.
The U.S. Census Bureau says that Woodbury Center covers an area of about 1.9 square miles (5.0 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no water.
