Woodway is a city located in McLennan County, Texas, United States. In 2020, about 9,383 people lived there. Woodway is part of the larger Waco metropolitan area.

History of Woodway
Woodway was first settled in 1865 by Burl Kendrick. In the early 1950s, a group of citizens decided to give the area a name. They chose "Woodway" in 1955. This name is a portmanteau, which means it combines parts of two other names. These names were Woodland West and the Village of Midway, both nearby areas. The residents officially made Woodway a city on June 20, 1955.

Woodway is located in the state of Texas. The city covers a total area of about 6.6 square miles (17.1 square kilometers). All of this area is land.

Woodway is home to the Carleen Bright Arboretum. An arboretum is like a special garden for trees and plants. This one is 15 acres (6 hectares) big. It has 6 acres (2 hectares) of beautiful gardens. You can also find an amphitheater with a covered gazebo, and a chapel there. Sometimes, you might even see cardinals, which are the official bird of Woodway.
