Woongarrah is a suburb located in the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the Central Coast Council area, which is the local government responsible for the region. Woongarrah is also part of the Warnervale development area, where new homes and facilities are being built.
About Woongarrah
Woongarrah used to be mostly open fields and farms. However, in recent years, it has been changing. Many new housing estates have been built, making it a more urban area. This is similar to what has happened in the nearby suburb of Hamlyn Terrace.
Future Plans
Back in 2000, there were plans to build a large shopping area. This area was called the Warnervale Town Centre. It was going to be located north of Sparks Road and east of the railway line.
A major supermarket company, Woolworths, wanted to build a new shopping centre there. There were also plans for a new train station. A road called Woongarrah Road was even built to the proposed site.
However, as of 2022, the shopping centre has not yet been built. The plans have changed since then. The new plans suggest a smaller shopping centre. Also, there is no longer a plan to build a train station in this specific area.
