Xavier Savage's Rugby Career
Starting Out in 2021
Xavier Savage made his first big game debut in 2021. This was in Round 15 of the 2021 NRL season. He played for the Canberra Raiders against the St. George Illawarra Dragons. He came into the game as a special replacement player (the 18th man). He played for 12 minutes after half-time. Later in 2021, Xavier had to stop playing for the rest of the season. He hurt his shoulder during a game.
Playing Strong in 2022
In the 2022 NRL season, Xavier Savage played 19 games for the Canberra Raiders. His team finished 8th in the league. This meant they made it to the finals. Xavier played in both of the team's finals matches. The Raiders were knocked out in the second week by the Parramatta Eels.
A Tough Year in 2023
The 2023 NRL season was a bit tough for Xavier. In March, it was announced that he had a broken jaw. This injury kept him out of the game for more than four weeks. Because of this, Xavier only played one match for the Canberra Raiders in 2023.
Big Season in 2024
Xavier Savage had a great 2024 NRL season. He played in 24 games for the Canberra Raiders. He scored 15 tries, which is a lot! The Raiders finished 9th in the league that year. In December, the Raiders announced that Xavier had signed a new contract. This means he will stay with the club until the end of 2027.
Success in 2025
The 2025 NRL season started well for Xavier. In Round 1, he scored two tries. This helped the Canberra Raiders win 30-8 against the New Zealand Warriors. In Round 11, Xavier scored a hat-trick (three tries) in one game! The Raiders won that game 40-24 against the Gold Coast team.
