How Xerneas and Yveltal Were Created
The games Pokémon X and Y started being made in 2010. They were released all over the world on October 12, 2013. The game titles, X and Y, were chosen early on. They represent the x-axis and y-axis, like in math. They also show different ways of thinking.
The game director, Junichi Masuda, wanted the main legendary Pokémon to look like the letters "X" and "Y". So, Xerneas and Yveltal were designed to fit these shapes. Usually, Ken Sugimori designs the legendary Pokémon by himself. But for these two, he needed help from another designer, Atsuko Nishida. It took about 18 months to finish their designs. This was three times longer than it usually takes!
What Do They Look Like?
Xerneas looks like a big stag with glowing antlers. Yveltal is a large, bird-like Pokémon shaped like the letter "Y". It also has some dragon features.
Their designs are based on old Norse mythology stories. Xerneas is like Eikþyrnir, a stag from Norse myths. Yveltal is inspired by Hræsvelgr, a giant eagle that creates wind by flapping its wings.
What Are Their Powers?
