Pokémon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction (ポケモン・ザ・ムービーXY 「破壊の繭とディアンシー」, Pokemon Za Mūbī Ekkusu Wai "Hakai no Mayu to Dianshī", lit. "Pokémon the Movie XY: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction") is an exciting Japanese anime adventure film from 2014. It's the 17th movie in the popular Pokémon series, which was created by Satoshi Tajiri. This film is also the very first movie in the XY series of Pokémon adventures.

The movie was directed by Kunihiko Yuyama and written by Hideki Sonoda. It features the voices of many talented actors, including Rica Matsumoto and Ikue Ōtani. In the story, a special Pokémon named Diancie, who is a princess, teams up with the Pokémon trainer Ash Ketchum and his friends: Pikachu, Serena, Clemont, and Bonnie. Their big adventure is to find the Legendary Pokémon Xerneas. Diancie needs Xerneas to help her awaken a special power. This power is super important because it can create an energy source that will save her kingdom!

The movie first came out in Japanese theaters on July 19, 2014. Later, an English version was made, and it premiered in Australia and New Zealand on November 8, 2014. On the same day, it also aired in the United States on Cartoon Network.

Story of the Movie

The movie begins in an underground kingdom called the Diamond Domain. This kingdom relies on a special energy source called the Heart Diamond. But the Heart Diamond is starting to fail, and it needs to be replaced! The only one who can create a new Heart Diamond is Diancie, the kingdom's princess. However, she doesn't have enough power yet to make one.

So, Diancie starts a journey to find the life-giving Legendary Pokémon Xerneas. She hopes Xerneas will help her discover the power she needs to create a new Heart Diamond. After searching for months, Diancie spots a city and decides to explore it. There, she meets the famous Pokémon trainer Ash Ketchum and his friends: Pikachu, Serena, Clemont, and Bonnie. Ash and his friends decide to join Diancie on her important quest to find Xerneas.

Diancie and her new friends eventually find Xerneas in the Allearth Forest. This forest is a forbidden place because a long time ago, Yveltal, a Pokémon that represents destruction, destroyed it. Yveltal then turned into a giant cocoon called the Cocoon of Destruction.

Xerneas teaches Diancie how to create a new Heart Diamond. But then, things get complicated! Team Rocket and some thieves named Riot, Marilyn, Millis, and Argus Steel all try to capture Diancie. They want to use her power to make diamonds for themselves. Their fighting accidentally disturbs the Cocoon, which causes Yveltal to wake up!

Yveltal uses its destructive powers to turn the thieves, their Pokémon, and even Pikachu into stone. Xerneas then makes Yveltal leave the forest. To fix the damage, Xerneas uses its own life force to bring the forest, and all the people and Pokémon who were turned to stone, back to life. After this, Xerneas becomes a tree to protect the balance of nature. Diancie then returns to the Diamond Domain and successfully creates a new Heart Diamond, saving her kingdom!
