Yu Aoi (蒼井 優, Aoi Yū, born August 17, 1985) is a talented Japanese actress and model. She started her acting career in movies in 2001. Her first film was All About Lily Chou-Chou, directed by Shunji Iwai. She later starred in other popular films like Hana and Alice (2004) and Hula Girls (2006). Yu Aoi has won many awards for her amazing acting. These include the Japan Academy Prize for her role in Hula Girls.

Yu Aoi was born on August 17, 1985, in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. When she was in junior high school, she moved to Tokyo. She lived in the Kasai area of Edogawa ward.

Yu Aoi began her acting journey on stage in 1999. She played the character Polly in a play called Annie. In 2000, she became a regular on a TV show called Oha Suta.
