Rayshawn Lamar Bennett (born February 16, 1991), known as YFN Lucci, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He signed a record deal with Think It's A Game Entertainment in 2014. That same year, he released his first mixtape, Wish Me Well.

His second mixtape, Wish Me Well 2 (2016), was his first album to appear on the Billboard 200 music chart. This mixtape included the popular song "Key to the Streets" (featuring Migos and Trouble). This song was his first to be listed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His first extended play (EP), Long Live Nut (2017), reached number 27 on the Billboard 200. It featured the song "Everyday We Lit" (featuring PnB Rock), which became his highest-charting song, reaching number 33 on the Billboard Hot 100. His first studio album, Ray Ray from Summerhill (2018), reached number 14 on the Billboard 200.

Early life

Rayshawn Lamar Bennett was born in Atlanta, Georgia. When he was growing up, he listened to rappers from Atlanta like T.I. and Jeezy. He found out he had a talent for music when he was 16 years old. Another rapper, Johnny Cinco, encouraged him to take his music seriously. Lucci's older brother is also a rapper, known as YFN KAY.

Career

2014–2016: Starting out and becoming known

In December 2014, YFN Lucci signed a music deal with Think It's A Game Entertainment. He then released his first mixtape, Wish Me Well. In February 2016, he released his second mixtape, Wish Me Well 2. This album reached number 183 on the US Billboard 200 chart, which lists the most popular albums.

The hit song from this mixtape was "Key to the Streets". It featured other artists like Migos and Trouble. This song reached number 70 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, which lists the most popular songs. A new version of the song was later released, featuring 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne, and Quavo.

In September 2016, Lucci was featured on the cover of Rolling Out magazine. In October 2016, rapper Meek Mill released a song called "You Know" that featured Lucci. This song was on Mill's DC4 mixtape. In December 2016, Billboard magazine named Lucci as one of the "10 Hip-Hop and R&B Artists to Watch In 2017".

Since 2017: Long Live Nut and Ray Ray From Summerhill

In April 2017, Lucci released his first extended play (EP) called Long Live Nut. This EP included songs with other artists like Rick Ross, Dreezy, PnB Rock, Lil Durk, and Boosie Badazz. The EP debuted at number 27 on the Billboard 200 chart. The main song from this project, "Everyday We Lit" featuring PnB Rock, reached number 33 on the Billboard Hot 100.

On March 9, 2018, Lucci released his first studio album, titled Ray Ray From Summerhill. This album also featured many guest artists. Some of these included Dreezy and Meek Mill, who he had worked with before.

In December 2020, Lucci released his mixtape Wish Me Well 3.

Personal life

YFN Lucci has four children with two different mothers. From 2018 to 2020, he had a relationship with Reginae Carter, who is the daughter of rapper Lil Wayne.

Other ventures

In 2017, Lucci and artist Jacquees were chosen to be models for Sean John's clothing campaigns. They appeared in ads for the 2017 holiday season and the spring of 2018.

Artistry

YFN Lucci has a unique "sing-song" style in his music. He explained how he developed this style in an interview. He said that he always had a high-pitched voice. He learned to rap and write his own verses. If a verse didn't sound right when he rapped it, he would try singing it instead. He found that it often sounded better when he sang it. His friends liked this style, so he continued to use it.
