Yalaha is a small community in Lake County, Florida, United States. It is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the government counts for population, but it's not officially a city or town with its own local government.

In 2010, about 1,364 people lived in Yalaha. This number grew to 1,505 people by 2020. Yalaha is part of the larger Orlando area, which includes cities like Kissimmee.

Where is Yalaha?

Yalaha is located in the middle of Lake County. It sits right on the southern shore of Lake Harris. To its west, you'll find the city of Leesburg. To the southeast, there's the town of Howey-in-the-Hills.

The center of Yalaha is about 9 miles (14 km) southeast of Leesburg. It's also about 16 miles (26 km) north of Groveland. The county seat, Tavares, is about 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Yalaha.

Land and Water

The Yalaha community covers a total area of about 14.4 square miles (37.3 square kilometers). A large part of this area is water. About 5.7 square miles (14.7 square kilometers) is land. The remaining 8.7 square miles (22.6 square kilometers), which is more than half of its total area, is water.

Most of this water is part of Lake Harris. Lake Harris is a big lake that is connected to the Ocklawaha River system.
