Yasuaki Oshima's Playing Days
Yasuaki Oshima was born in Kobe, Japan, on September 1, 1981. He started his football journey with Vissel Kobe, a club in the top Japanese league, the J1 League. He joined their youth team in 1997 and moved up to the main team in 2000. However, he didn't get to play in any official matches during his time there until 2001.
In March 2001, Oshima moved to Otsuka Pharmaceutical. This club was in the Japan Football League (JFL), which is a lower division. Here, he became a very important player and scored many goals. He was one of the top goal scorers in both the 2003 and 2004 seasons. His team even won the championship in both those years! Because of their success, the club was promoted to the J2 League in 2005.
After the promotion, Oshima continued to play many matches for Tokushima Vortis, though his playing time became a bit less. By 2009, he wasn't playing much at all. In September 2009, he moved to another JFL club, New Wave Kitakyushu (which later became Giravanz Kitakyushu). He played a lot for this new team, and they also got promoted to the J2 League in 2010. Oshima was a regular player in 2010. However, from 2011, his playing opportunities decreased again, and he decided to retire from playing football at the end of the 2012 season.
Becoming a Coach: Managerial Career
After his playing career, Yasuaki Oshima moved into coaching. In 2021, he was announced as the temporary manager for Kagoshima United FC.
He returned to Kagoshima United as their main manager on August 22, 2023. He led the team to great success! On December 2, 2023, Oshima helped his club get promoted to the J2 League. They achieved this by drawing 1–1 against Gainare Tottori and finishing in 2nd place in the league. This was a big achievement for the team. However, on May 27, 2024, he was no longer the manager after a series of difficult results.
