A Look Back: Yeguada's History
Long ago, native people lived in the area we now call Yeguada. This community later became famous for raising horses. These horses were very important for getting around Puerto Rico.
Becoming Part of the United States
After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became a special area connected to the U.S. but not a state.
In 1899, the United States government counted everyone living in Puerto Rico. They found that 428 people lived in Yeguada at that time.
