Yoon Jeong-hee (Hangul: 윤정희) was a famous South Korean actress. She was born on July 30, 1944, and passed away on January 19, 2023. Yoon Jeong-hee started her acting career in 1967. She appeared in an amazing 330 movies!
Some of her most well-known films include New Place (1979), Woman in Crisis (1987), and Manmubang (1994). Her last movie was Poetry in 2010, directed by Lee Chang-dong. For this film, she won 7 "Best Actress" awards. These awards included the Asia Pacific Screen Award, the Grand Bell Award, and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award.
Yoon Jeong-hee's Acting Journey
Yoon Jeong-hee was born in Gwangju, South Korea. She began her acting career in 1967. She was chosen for a role in the movie Cheongchun Geukjang after an audition held by Hapdong Film.
During the 1960s, Yoon Jeong-hee was one of the "Troika" (three) most popular actresses. The other two famous actresses were Moon Hee and Nam Jeong-im.
After taking a break from acting, she returned in 2010. She starred in Lee Chang-dong's movie Poetry. This role earned her several top awards. She won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Actress and the Asia Pacific Screen Award for Best Actress.
Her Family Life
Yoon Jeong-hee married the famous pianist Kun-Woo Paik in 1974. They had a daughter who became a talented violinist. Yoon Jeong-hee lived in Paris, France, with her family. She lived there after she stopped acting in the mid-1990s. She returned to Korea for her role in Poetry.
Yoon Jeong-hee had a health condition later in her life. She passed away in Paris on January 19, 2023, at the age of 78.
