The Cape Neddick Light, also known as Nubble Lighthouse, is a famous landmark. It stands 41 feet (12 meters) tall on Short Sands Beach. Building the lighthouse began in 1876 and cost $15,000. Its light first shone on July 1, 1879. The lighthouse was originally red. It was painted white in 1902 when the red keeper's house was built. The lighthouse became automated in 1987, meaning it runs by itself now.

Goldenrod

Goldenrod is a historic spot that opened in 1896. Edward and Mattie Talpey started it in the same location where it stands today.

Union Bluff Hotel

The Union Bluff Hotel has been a part of York Beach since 1875. Moses French built it on the Union Bluffs. As more tourists visited in the late 1870s, the hotel became a popular place to stay. The original Union Bluff Hotel was one of the oldest wooden buildings in York Beach. Sadly, it was destroyed by fire in 1987. But don't worry! It was rebuilt in just two years, opening again in 1989. The hotel has had a few different names over the years, including The Wahnita (around the 1900s) and The York Plaza Hotel (around the 1930s), before becoming The Union Bluff Hotel again in 1976.
