Yoshio Furukawa (古川 好男, born July 5, 1934) is a famous former Japanese football player. He was a talented goalkeeper. Furukawa played for the Japan national team for many years.
Club Career
Yoshio Furukawa was born in Osaka Prefecture, Japan, on July 5, 1934. He loved playing football from a young age. After finishing his studies at Kansai University, he joined a team called Dunlop Japan in 1957. He played as their goalkeeper.
Playing for Japan
Furukawa's skills as a goalkeeper were noticed early. In June 1956, while he was still a student at Kansai University, he was chosen for the Japan national team. This was a big honor for him.
His first game for Japan was on June 3, 1956. It was a qualification match for the 1956 Summer Olympics against South Korea. Later that year, he played in the actual 1956 Summer Olympics, which were held in Melbourne, Australia.
Furukawa also represented Japan in the 1958 Asian Games. These games are a big sports event for countries in Asia. He played a total of 19 games for the Japan national team. His last game for Japan was in 1962.
