Ysgol Glan Clwyd, also known as Ysgol Uwchradd Glan Clwyd, is a secondary school in Wales. It was the very first school of its kind to teach mainly in Welsh. The school opened in 1956 in Rhyl. Later, in 1969, it moved to St Asaph. The local government, Denbighshire Local Education Authority, helps manage the school.

What's Ysgol Glan Clwyd Like Today?
In 2022, Ysgol Glan Clwyd had 1034 students. About 108 of these students were in the sixth form, which is for older students. A government check showed that most students, about 95%, spoke Welsh very well. This is true even though 70% of students came from homes where English was the main language.
Most subjects at the school are taught in Welsh. Only English classes and a few subjects for older students are taught in English. The school also has special classes for students who do not speak Welsh. These students learn Welsh and then join the regular classes later on.
New Buildings and Updates
The school has been rebuilt and updated. This was part of Denbighshire County Council's plan to make schools modern for the 21st century. The new school building officially opened in September 2017. However, students started using the new building in January 2017.
Musical Theatre at the School
Musical theatre is a big part of life at Ysgol Glan Clwyd. The school recently put on a musical show called Sioe Y Sioeau. This show included songs from popular musicals like The Lion King and Hairspray. It also featured parts from the play Blood Brothers.
The school also performed a show called "Yn y Dechreuad," which means "In the Beginning." This show was about how and why the school started. It told the story of the school's journey to become what it is today.
