Differences from the Manga

When the manga was turned into this anime series, some things were changed. The show was made less intense than the original comic. Some characters and their personalities were changed. New characters and plots (storylines) were also added to the TV show.

The card game, known as Duel Monsters, was included more in this anime than in the manga. However, in this first Yu-Gi-Oh! series, the card game is not the main focus of the show. This is different from the later Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters series, where the card game is the most important part of the story.
