Fernand Yves Jabouin, born on May 30, 1979, is a retired mixed martial artist. He is from both Haiti and Canada. Yves used to compete in the Bantamweight division. He fought in big organizations like the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He also competed in the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC). He started his professional career in 2001.

Early Life and Beginnings
Yves Jabouin was born in Haiti. He moved to Canada with his mother and two siblings. He started learning martial arts when he was young. His father loved movies with Chuck Norris. Young Yves often watched Kung Fu movies at the theater. Later, Yves went to college. He earned a degree in Graphic Design. He even worked as an animator for TV commercials.
Mixed Martial Arts Career
Starting His Career
Jabouin began his professional fighting career in 2001. He mostly fought in his home country, Canada. He had a great start, winning 14 fights. Out of these wins, 11 were by knockout. This strong record helped him get noticed. Soon, he was signed by the WEC.
Fighting in the WEC
Yves Jabouin made his WEC debut on October 10, 2009. He fought Raphael Assunção at WEC 43. He lost this fight by a close decision.
He was supposed to fight Mark Hominick in January 2010. But Yves got injured and could not compete. The fight with Mark Hominick finally happened on June 20, 2010, at WEC 49. Yves lost this fight in the second round. However, their fight was so exciting that it won "Fight of the Night" honors.
Jabouin then won his next fight. He defeated Brandon Visher on November 11, 2010. He won this match by a unanimous decision at WEC 52.
Joining the UFC
In October 2010, the WEC joined with the UFC. This meant all WEC fighters, including Yves, moved to the UFC.
Jabouin's first UFC fight was on April 30, 2011. He faced Pablo Garza at UFC 129. Yves lost this fight in the first round by a submission move.
He quickly bounced back with a win. On August 27, 2011, he defeated Ian Loveland at UFC 134. He won this fight by a split decision.
Yves continued his winning streak. He beat Walel Watson on December 10, 2011, at UFC 140. This was another close fight, and Yves won by split decision.
He was set to fight Mike Easton in May 2012. But Easton got injured. Jeff Hougland stepped in to fight instead. Jabouin showed his strong striking skills. He hit Hougland many times. Yves won this fight by a unanimous decision.
His winning streak ended on September 29, 2012. He was knocked out by Brad Pickett in the first round. This fight happened at UFC on Fuel TV 5.
Yves was scheduled to fight Johnny Eduardo in March 2013. But Eduardo had a shoulder injury and could not fight. A new opponent could not be found quickly. So, Yves was removed from that fight card.
He returned to the octagon on June 15, 2013. He fought Dustin Pague at UFC 161. It was a back-and-forth fight. Yves won by a split decision.
Jabouin then faced Eddie Wineland at UFC on Fox 10. Yves lost this fight in the second round.
On June 14, 2014, Yves fought Mike Easton again. This time, at UFC 174, Yves won the fight. He won by a unanimous decision.
His next fight was on April 25, 2015. He faced Thomas Almeida at UFC 186. Yves lost this fight in the first round.
Yves Jabouin's last fight was on August 23, 2015. He fought Felipe Arantes at UFC Fight Night 74. Yves lost this fight by submission in the first round. After this fight, he was no longer part of the UFC.
