Mark Hominick, born in Canada on July 22, 1982, is a retired mixed martial artist. He was a champion in the TKO Featherweight division and fought in big leagues like the UFC and WEC. People knew him for his amazing boxing skills and powerful punches.

About Mark Hominick
As a teenager, Mark went to high school at Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute. He learned his fighting skills from a coach named Shawn Tompkins at The Adrenaline Training Center in London, Ontario. Today, Mark helps own and teach at that same training center with his friends Sam Stout and Chris Horodecki.
Mark's Fighting Career
Early UFC Fights
Mark started his UFC journey with a win against Yves Edwards. He won this fight using a special move called a triangle choke. He also won another fight against Jorge Gurgel by getting a unanimous decision from the judges.
Fighting in the WEC
Mark also fought in the WEC. After a couple of tough losses, he bounced back with wins against Bryan Caraway and Yves Jabouin. His fight with Yves Jabouin was so exciting that it won an award for the "Best Round of 2010"! He also beat Leonard Garcia.
Return to the UFC
Later, the WEC organization joined with the UFC. This meant all WEC fighters, including Mark, moved to the UFC.
Mark faced his former training partner, George Roop, in a big fight. Mark won this fight in the first round.
He then got a chance to fight for the UFC Featherweight Championship title against José Aldo. It was a very tough fight that lasted all five rounds, and Mark lost by decision. However, their fight was so exciting that it won the "Fight of the Night" award!
Mark had two more fights in the UFC. He lost to Chan Sung Jung in a very fast knockout. He then lost a close fight to Eddie Yagin, which also earned "Fight of the Night" honors. His last fight was against Pablo Garza, which he lost by decision.
Retirement from Fighting
After his last fight in November 2012, Mark Hominick announced he was retiring from mixed martial arts on December 11, 2012. He said he was thankful he got to live his dream and was ready for the next part of his life.
Mark's Life Outside the Ring
Mark Hominick went to I.D.C.I. school in Ingersoll, Ontario. He got married in December 2009 and has two children.
Mark has also worked with other UFC fighters like Sean Pierson, Sam Stout, and Matt Mitrione to help with an anti-bullying program in Toronto.
