Zaeden's Early Life and Music Journey
Zaeden grew up in Gurugram, India. He went to The Heritage School, where he learned to play the tabla and piano. When he was 14, he started performing as a DJ. He later moved to Mumbai to study sound engineering.
Sahil chose the name "Zaeden" because his birth name was very common in India. He liked that "Zaeden" means "out of the box thinking" in Latin.
Zaeden's Music Career
Zaeden started his music journey at 14 by mixing dance music for his friends. In 2014, he released his first song called "Land of Lords." That same year, his remix of Coldplay's song "Magic" was played on Dutch DJ Hardwell's radio show. This made Zaeden one of the youngest DJs to be featured on the show. He also released an official remix for Maroon 5's song "Don't Wanna Know" that year.
In 2015, Zaeden signed with Spinnin' Records. He then released his song "Yesterday" with American DJ Borgeous.
Big Performances and New Songs
In 2016, Zaeden was a closing act for DJ David Guetta's concert in Mumbai. He also became one of the few Indian artists to perform at the Tomorrowland Festival in Belgium. There, he played "Yesterday" and his remix of Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself." In July 2016, he released "Never Let You Go" with DJ duo Nina & Malika. This song featured vocals by Cimo Frankel. The music video for it was filmed across Europe.
Zaeden was also recognized for his style. He was featured on GQ magazine's 'Best Dressed List 2016'. MensXP also included him in their list of ‘Top 50 Indians who defined fashion in 2016.’ He even gave a speech at the TEDx conference at his old school.
In 2017, Zaeden released another remix of Maroon 5's "Don't Wanna Know," which featured American rapper Kendrick Lamar. He also released his third song, "City of the Lonely Hearts," with Cimo Frankel. That same year, he was an opening act for Justin Bieber's Purpose World Tour concert in Mumbai.
He has represented India at big music events like Tomorrowland and Marenostrum. He has also played at famous clubs in Ibiza, such as Ushuaïa, Pacha, and Privilege.
Hindi Music and Albums
On September 5, 2019, Zaeden released his first Hindi song, "tere bina." It was released on VYRL, Universal Music, and came with a music video starring Amyra Dastur. A few weeks later, he released an acoustic version of the song with Jonita Gandhi. He performed "tere bina" for the first time at Tomorrowland during his third appearance there.
During a time when India was in lockdown, Zaeden released four more songs: "kya karoon?", "dooriyan", "intezaar," and "socha na tha." He also worked with Lost Stories on "Noor" and with Sez on the Beat for "Kahaani 2020." All these songs were very popular. In 2021, he released his first album, "Genesis 1:1," which had 11 songs.
Zaeden has partnered with many international brands like Gucci, Puma, Fossil, Axe, Tinder, and Bumble. For Puma's 'Future Riders' collection, he filmed digital ads with Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan. He has also worked with fashion designers Shantanu & Nikhil and Siddhartha Tytler.
In 2023, Zaeden launched his own fragrance brand called "SOL."
