Zippo Pine Bar (born in 1969, passed away in 1998) was a super famous horse! He was known as the best father (sire) of Quarter Horses in a special riding style called Western Pleasure.

The Life of Zippo Pine Bar

Zippo Pine Bar was born on April 1, 1969. He was a sorrel horse, which means he had a reddish-brown coat. His dad was a horse named Zippo Pat Bars, and his mom was Dollie Pine. Dollie Pine's dad was Poco Pine, who was also a very well-known horse.

A man named Norman Reynolds bought Zippo Pine Bar when he was just a baby horse (a weanling). Norman hoped Zippo Pine Bar would become a great halter horse. Halter horses are judged on their looks and how well they are trained to be led.

Zippo's Show Career

Zippo Pine Bar was amazing in horse shows! He earned many awards from the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA). These awards included an AQHA Championship, a Performance Register of Merit, and a Superior Western Pleasure Horse Award.

In 1972, he was named the AQHA High Point Junior Western Pleasure Stallion. This means he was the top young male horse in Western Pleasure that year. He was also the AQHA High Point Junior Western Riding Horse.

Later, in 1992, Zippo Pine Bar was honored by being added to the National Snaffle Bit Association Hall of Fame. This is a very special award for horses who have made a big impact.

Zippo's Breeding Record

Zippo Pine Bar became famous for being a fantastic father to many foals (baby horses). He had 1,648 Quarter Horse foals, 68 Appaloosa foals, and 72 Paint Horse foals. Together, his children earned over 50,000 points in horse shows!

Many of his children became champions too. Five of them were even inducted into the NSBA Hall of Fame. These include Mr Zippo Pine, Zippo By Moonlight, Zips Chocolate Chip, Zippos Mr Goodbar, and Zippos Amblin Easy. His son, Zippos Mr Goodbar, was also added to the AQHA Hall of Fame in 2019.

Other important children of Zippo Pine Bar include Melody Zipper, Flashy Zipper, Zippo Cash Bar, Zippo Jack Bar, Zippos Honeybee, and Don't Skip Zip. In 1991, his children won World Championships in Western Pleasure in three different horse associations: the AQHA, the American Paint Horse Association (APHA), and the Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC). This shows how talented his offspring were!

Death and Special Honors

Zippo Pine Bar lived a long life for a horse. He passed away on January 12, 1998, at the age of 29. He had a major stroke and was humanely euthanized (put to sleep).

In 2000, Zippo Pine Bar received one of the highest honors a horse can get. He was inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame. This means he is remembered as one of the most important and influential Quarter Horses of all time.
