Zippos Mr Good Bar (1984-2016) was a very famous American Quarter Horse. He was a registered horse with the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA). He is in the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame for 2019. He was known for his amazing show career and for being a top father (called a sire in horses). He lived a long life, passing away at 32 years old in 2016.

The Life of Zippos Mr Good Bar

Zippos Mr Good Bar was born in 1984. He was a roan horse, which means he had a mix of white and colored hairs. His father was Zippo Pine Bar, and his mother was Tamara Wess. Norman Reynolds, a breeder from Lexington, Nebraska, helped his parents meet.

Zippos Mr Good Bar was given the nickname "Roan Boy" when he lived in Arkansas. At first, the roan color was not very popular in Western pleasure horse shows. But Zippos Mr Good Bar and his children helped change that! They won so many competitions that people started to love the roan color.

His Show Career

This amazing horse earned almost $39,000 during his time competing in horse shows. While he was showing, a family called the Narmonts from Auburn, Illinois, noticed him. First, they rented him for a while (called a lease). Then, they became part-owners with his original owners. Finally, in 1998, they bought him completely.

His Breeding Success

Zippos Mr Good Bar was a very successful father. He had many children who became winners in all kinds of AQHA horse shows. He had 89 children who earned points in competitions. These children won over $3.3 million and earned more than 67,000 points. They also won 22 world championships and 17 reserve world championships!

His children also earned points in other horse associations. These include the Palomino Horse Breeders of America and the International Buckskin Horse Association. Zippos Mr Good Bar was also great at being a "broodmare sire." This means his daughters became mothers of many successful horses too. His grandchildren earned over $3.2 million and more than 72,000 points.

He helped create 1,641 registered foals (baby horses). At least 936 of them went on to compete in shows. His children won 24 national-level competitions. They also won many times at the All American Quarter Horse Congress, which is a very big show. His children earned nearly $950,000 in special AQHA earnings. They also earned over $1.6 million in futurity earnings from the NSBA. His most famous daughter is Vital Signs Are Good, who is also in the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame.

Death and Special Honors

Zippos Mr Good Bar was honored many times for his achievements. He was inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame in 1999. This is a very special honor for horses who have made a big impact. He was also inducted into the National Snaffle Bit Association Hall of Fame in 2000.

Zippos Mr Good Bar passed away on July 22, 2016. He was 32 years old. He died at Richland Ranch in Auburn, Illinois, where he had lived for many years.
