Ángel Aristedes Chávez (born July 22, 1981) is a professional baseball player from Panama. He is an Infielder, which means he plays positions like shortstop, second base, or third base. Ángel Chávez played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Francisco Giants in 2005.
He also spent many years playing in the minor leagues. In these leagues, he hit 74 home runs and had 478 RBIs (Runs Batted In). He also stole 98 bases. He first signed with the San Francisco Giants in 1998.

Playing Career
San Francisco Giants (2005)
Ángel Chávez had a good year in the minor leagues in 2005. Because of his strong play, the San Francisco Giants called him up to the Major Leagues on August 30. He made his big league debut that same night. He played shortstop because the regular player was injured.
Chávez played in 10 games for the Giants. He got 5 hits in 19 tries, which is a batting average of .263. Even though he missed some minor league games, he was one of the top players for the Giants' farm teams. He had a career-high 83 RBIs that year.
New York Yankees (2007)
In 2007, Chávez was invited to spring training by the New York Yankees. Spring training is where players get ready for the new season. He did not make the main team. Instead, he played for the Yankees' Triple-A team. This team was called the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees. He played 114 games for them. He had a batting average of .291 and drove in 66 runs.
Los Angeles Dodgers (2008)
In 2007, Chávez signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was invited to their spring training too. He started the 2008 season on the Dodgers' main roster. However, he did not play in a game for them. He was then sent to their Triple-A team, the Las Vegas 51s. He became a free agent at the end of that season.
Boston Red Sox (2009)

In January 2009, Chávez signed a minor league contract with the Boston Red Sox. He joined them for spring training.
Tampa Bay Rays (2010)
In February 2010, Chávez signed a minor league contract with the Tampa Bay Rays.
Bridgeport Bluefish (2011)
In April 2011, Chávez signed with the Bridgeport Bluefish. This team plays in an independent league.
Playing in Panama and Mexico
- Bocas Del Toro (2012): In 2012, Chávez played for a semi-professional team in Panama called Bocas. His team won the National Championship that year.
- Vaqueros Laguna (2012): After playing in Panama, Chávez signed with the Vaqueros in Mexico.
- Chiriquí (2013): In 2013, Chávez played for his home province team, Chiriquí, in Panama. They also won the National Championship, making it his second straight win.
Sioux Falls Canaries (2015)
Chávez signed with the Sioux Falls Canaries in 2015. This team is part of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball.
