¡Mucha Lucha! is an exciting American animated TV show. It was also known as ¡Mucha Lucha!: Gigante during its third season. The show first aired on August 17, 2002, on channels like Kids' WB, Teletoon, and Canal 5.

It was created by Eddie Mort and Lili Chin. The show was produced by Warner Bros. Animation and Bardel Entertainment. It was one of the first animated TV shows for kids made using Adobe Flash. This computer program later became very popular for making cartoons. A movie called ¡Mucha Lucha!: The Return of El Maléfico was also made from the series in 2004.

What's the Story?

The show takes place in a fun, fictional town called Luchaville. This town is in Southern California and is all about lucha libre. Lucha libre is a type of Mexican wrestling. In Luchaville, almost everyone wears a special mask and costume. They also have their own unique wrestling move!

The story mainly follows three friends: Rikochet, Buena Girl, and the Flea. They are students at the Foremost World-Renowned International School of Lucha. Here, they learn how to become great wrestlers.

Meet the Characters!

Here are the main characters you'll meet in ¡Mucha Lucha!:

  • Rikochet (voiced by Carlos Alazraqui) – He is the main character and a young wrestler. Rikochet thinks he is the bravest of his friends. But sometimes, he acts before he thinks things through!
  • Buena Girl (Kimberly Brooks) – She is a smart young female wrestler. Buena Girl always follows the rules. Sometimes, she can be a bit bossy or proud.
  • The Flea (voiced by Candi Milo) – He is a friend of Rikochet and Buena Girl. The Flea is always a bit messy and talks about himself in the third person. He has some funny habits. Even though he can be nervous, he often helps his friends a lot.
  • El Rey (voiced by Michael Donovan) – This is an action figure that helps Rikochet think. El Rey carries a backpack. He can move and talk on his own, just like he's alive! This action figure is part of a big collection of toys. These toys are based on a famous Mexican wrestler named El Rey, like the real-life Santo. Other El Rey toys also appear in the show and sometimes cause trouble for Rikochet.

Where and When Did It Air?

The show was shown in the United States on Kids' WB. In Canada, it was on Teletoon. And in Mexico, you could watch it on Canal 5. It aired from August 17, 2002, until February 26, 2005.

Cool Toys and More!

A line of toys based on the show came out in 2004. These toys were made by Jakks Pacific. The toy line included "Mix-a-Lot" action figures. You could take off their body parts and put them on other figures! "Signature Move" action figures were also released. There was even a toy wrestling ring. However, a second series of toys was canceled.

In the summer of 2003, DC Comics made three comic books about ¡Mucha Lucha!. Eddie Mort, one of the show's creators, wrote all three stories. These comic books were sometimes mentioned in the TV series.

  • El Rey, Come Home!
  • It's All Buena!
  • Limbo of the Lost Luchadores!

A Game Boy Advance video game called Mascaritas of the Lost Code was released in late 2003. A Sony PlayStation 2 video game, Mysterioso Grande, was also planned. But it was canceled around 2004 because the creators could not find a company to publish it.

What About a New Show?

In 2014, there was an idea for a new ¡Mucha Lucha! show. It was going to be called ¡Mucha Lucha! Para Siempre. This new show would have followed Rikochet, Buena Girl, and the Flea as teenagers.
