Älmhult Municipality (Älmhults kommun) is a local area, or municipality, in southern Sweden. It is located in Kronoberg County, and its main town is Älmhult.
Älmhult started as a market town in 1901. Later, in 1971, it joined with other nearby rural areas to form the municipality we know today.
This area is famous for two important people. The first is Carl von Linné, a world-famous botanist (someone who studies plants). He was born and grew up here in the early 1700s. You can even visit his childhood home, which is now a museum at Råshult. It still looks much like it did 300 years ago!
The second famous person is Ingvar Kamprad, who founded IKEA. Ingvar grew up in Älmhult Municipality, and the very first IKEA store opened right here.
Älmhult Municipality is also known for its beautiful nature. Like many places in Småland, it has many lakes, streams, and especially lots of forests. This makes it a great place for anyone interested in plants and nature.
