ESSCA School of Management is a well-known French business school. It is part of a special group of schools called Grandes écoles. While its main campus is in Angers, ESSCA also has campuses in many other cities. These include Paris, Aix-en-Provence, Lyon, Strasbourg, Bordeaux, Budapest, Malaga, Luxembourg, and Shanghai.
The school offers different study programs. One of its most popular is a five-year course. This program is called the "Grande École" program. When students finish, they receive a diploma approved by the French government. This diploma is like a master's degree.
ESSCA has received "Triple accreditation" from three important international groups. These are AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS. This means the school meets very high standards for business education. ESSCA is also a member of the Conférence des Grandes Écoles. This is a group of top French engineering and business schools.

About ESSCA School of Management
ESSCA has a special entrance exam for students. This exam happens after they finish high school, which is called the Baccalauréat in France. Many other French graduate schools require students to study for two extra years before taking their entrance exams. ESSCA uses its exam to make sure about 600 new students join each year.
How ESSCA Started and Grew
Early Years and Expansion
ESSCA was founded in 1909. It was started by the Dean of the Law Faculty at the Catholic University of the West. In 1967, ESSCA became a non-profit organization. Later, in 2016, it received special certification. This means it works with the government to help with higher education and research.
The school first offered a two-year degree. This was extended to three years in 1954. In 1969, ESSCA moved its campus in Angers. At the same time, its programs became four years long. The French government officially recognized ESSCA in 1975.
In 1977, ESSCA became the first business school to join the Conférence des Grandes Écoles. This was special because students could join ESSCA right after high school. This helped ESSCA become as good as older French business schools. In 1980, it was allowed to give out state-recognized diplomas. A new building opened in Angers in 1987.
In 1993, ESSCA opened new campuses in Paris and Budapest. By 1999, the school's main master's programs were five years long. This made them similar to other top business schools in France and Europe.
Global Growth and Modern Programs
ESSCA started expanding globally in the 1980s. This growth continued with the opening of its Shanghai campus in 2006. By 2009, when ESSCA celebrated its 100th anniversary, it had campuses in Angers, Paris, Budapest, and Shanghai.
In 2001, the Angers campus became even bigger. From 2004, the "Grande École" program was recognized as a master's degree. This program also received its first international quality approval in 2006. This was the EPAS accreditation from EFMD. ESSCA was the first post-high school business school to get this award.
Between 2006 and 2010, the school continued to grow. The Shanghai campus opened in 2007. The original Angers campus was expanded in 2009. The Paris campus moved to Boulogne-Billancourt in 2010 to fit more students. In 2012, the "Grande École" program started offering a work-based specialization. This allowed students to learn on the job in their fourth and fifth years.
A bachelor's level program, ESIAME, was part of ESSCA until 2009. It rejoined ESSCA in 2016. In 2016, this program was offered in Cholet and Paris. It was called the Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) in International Management. Since then, the bachelor's program has grown. It is now called the Bachelor in International Management (BMI). It is also available on the Aix-en-Provence, Bordeaux, and Lyon campuses.
Quality and Memberships
ESSCA gives out a "Grande École" master's degree. This degree is called an MSc in management. Students can also choose to get two degrees at once. These double degrees are with other French and international schools. They cover subjects like Economics and International Business. ESSCA is also a member of the "Conférence des Grandes écoles".
ESSCA received the EPAS accreditation on April 24, 2006. This was from the European Foundation for Management Development. It was the first French graduate school to get this international quality mark. In May 2014, ESSCA also received AACSB-accreditation. Then, in June 2016, it was awarded the EQUIS accreditation.
In 2017, ESSCA received accreditation from the AMBA. This means ESSCA is one of the very few business schools worldwide with "triple accreditation". Only about 1% of business schools have all three of these top accreditations.
