Óscar González-Quevedo Bruzón (December 15, 1930 – January 9, 2019) was a Spanish-born Brazilian Jesuit priest. He was known for his research in parapsychology, which is the study of strange mental abilities or events that science can't easily explain.

Life Story of Óscar González-Quevedo

Óscar González-Quevedo was born in Madrid, Spain. His family was very religious, with many relatives becoming priests or nuns. His cousin, Teresita González Quevedo, was a Carmelite nun. She is being considered for beatification, which is a step towards becoming a saint in the Catholic Church.

When Óscar was a child, his uncle Horatio introduced him to books about Spiritism. Spiritism is a belief system that involves talking with spirits of the dead. Óscar and his mother were living in Gibraltar at the time. They had left Spain because of difficult political times. Óscar's father, who was very Catholic, faced challenges for his faith.

Óscar was very curious and loved to read. He started studying these "amazing phenomena" related to Spiritism. This made him ask many questions and want to learn more. Years later, Óscar's discussions with his uncle actually changed his uncle's beliefs about Spiritism. Óscar still has family in Gibraltar because his mother was from there.

Early in his life, Óscar decided he wanted to become a priest. He discovered this calling while attending a Jesuit high school in Vigo, Spain.

After getting a strong education, he became a priest in 1961. His leaders sent him to Brazil. Brazil was a good place for him to study superstitions, different religious groups, and parapsychological events. Óscar also knew a lot about magic and illusions. This knowledge helped him understand and explain many misunderstandings and tricks.

He founded and directed the Latin American Center of Parapsychology. This center was in São Paulo, Brazil. He worked there every day, except when he traveled. He taught and gave many talks and workshops about parapsychology around the world. González Quevedo could read Latin, Greek, Hebrew, English, French, and Italian. He also spoke Spanish and Portuguese very well.
