The fight for the championship was very close until the very last race! Damon Hill, driving for the Williams team, was Schumacher's main rival. Hill was also a fantastic driver and pushed Schumacher hard.
The championship was decided in the final race in Australia. Schumacher and Hill even crashed into each other! In the end, Michael Schumacher won the title by just one point. It was one of the closest championship finishes ever!
Williams Wins Constructors' Championship
Even though Damon Hill didn't win the drivers' title, his team, Williams, had a great year.
They won the Constructors' Championship. This means their cars were the best overall. It showed that Williams had a very strong car and a great team working together.
Other Top Teams
Besides Benetton and Williams, other teams also did well.

- Ferrari came in third.
- McLaren-Peugeot was fourth.

A Focus on Safety
The 1994 season was also a very sad year for Formula One. Two drivers, Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna, had serious accidents during the San Marino Grand Prix. Sadly, they both passed away.
