The 2014 NCAA Men's Division I Ice Hockey Tournament was a big ice hockey competition for college teams in the United States. Sixteen top teams played in a knockout style tournament. The goal was to find the best college hockey team in the Division I level.

The final games, called the "Frozen Four," happened at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. In the championship game, the Union Dutchmen beat the Minnesota Golden Gophers with a score of 7–4. This was Union's very first NCAA ice hockey title!

How the Tournament Worked

The tournament started with four groups of four teams. These groups played in different parts of the country. The winners from each of these regional groups then moved on to the "Frozen Four."

Here are the places where the regional games were held:

The "Frozen Four" semifinals and championship games took place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

Teams That Played

The teams chosen for the tournament were announced on March 23. Different college hockey conferences sent their best teams. For example, Hockey East had five teams in the tournament. ECAC Hockey and the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) each had three teams. The Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) and Big Ten Conference each had two teams. One team from Atlantic Hockey also made it.
