2016 Formula One World Championship facts for kids
The 2016 Formula One World Championship was the 67th season of the exciting Formula One racing series. Formula One is the top level of motor racing for special open-wheel cars. These cars have their wheels outside the main body, making them look very unique!
In 2016, German racing driver Nico Rosberg became the world champion. His team, Mercedes, also won the Constructors' Championship, which is for the best team overall.
Driver Changes and Big Wins
During the 2016 season, there were some interesting changes with drivers. The Red Bull Racing team swapped one of their drivers, Daniil Kvyat, with Max Verstappen from the Scuderia Toro Rosso team.
This change turned out to be a huge moment for Max Verstappen. He won his very first race with Red Bull at the Spanish Grand Prix. This made him the youngest ever winner in Formula One history!
