225 Bush Street is a famous office building in the Financial District of San Francisco, California. It was originally known as the Standard Oil Building. This tall building is about 328 feet (100 meters) high and has 25 floors. It was the tallest building in San Francisco when it was finished in 1922. It held this title until 1925.
The building has 21 floors of office space. There is also one floor for shops and one for storage. It even has two basement levels, which include a parking garage. The building offers about 560,000 square feet (52,000 square meters) of space for rent.
This historic building was once the main office for Standard Oil of California. This company is now known as Chevron. Standard Oil used the building for over 50 years. A famous architect named George W. Kelham designed the building. He created it for John D. Rockefeller. The design was inspired by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York Building. The building is actually made of two parts: an older section built in the 1920s and a newer section added in the 1950s.
