Allison Joy Courtenay, Countess of Devon, is an American actress. She was born Allison Joy Langer on May 22, 1974. Many people know her by her stage name, A. J. Langer. She became famous for her roles in TV shows like My So-Called Life and Baywatch.
In 2004, she married Charles Courtenay, 19th Earl of Devon. After her marriage, she helped manage Powderham Castle. This castle is the family home of the Courtenay family in Exminster, England.

Early Life and Nickname
Allison Joy Langer was born in Columbus, Ohio. When she was five years old, her family moved to the San Fernando Valley in California.
When she was eight, Allison joined a baseball team. All her teammates were boys. They thought the name "Allison" sounded too feminine. So, they started calling her by her initials, "A.J." She has an older brother named Kirk.
Acting Career Highlights
A.J. Langer had many guest roles on different TV shows. She appeared in The Wonder Years and was a regular on Drexell's Class.
Famous TV Roles
She became well-known for playing Rayanne Graff on the TV series My So-Called Life. She also had main roles in the sitcoms It's Like, You Know... and Three Sisters. Later, she starred in the drama series Eyes.

A.J. Langer also acted in several movies. These include John Carpenter's Escape from L.A. and Wes Craven's horror film The People Under the Stairs.
Return to Acting
After taking a break from acting for six years, Langer returned to TV in 2011. She appeared in 14 episodes of Private Practice. She played the character Erica Warner. Her character left the show in 2012.
Personal Life and Family
A.J. Langer married Charles Courtenay in 2004. He is an attorney and the son of the 18th Earl of Devon. They had a formal wedding ceremony in Los Angeles on April 30, 2005.
Becoming a Countess
Before her father-in-law passed away, A.J. Langer was known as Lady Courtenay. When her husband became the 19th Earl of Devon, she received the title of Countess of Devon.
In January 2014, she and her husband moved their family to London. In May 2015, they moved to the family home, Powderham Castle. The couple announced their separation in November 2023. However, in February 2024, they decided to stop their divorce application.

Helping Others
In her free time, A.J. Langer works to help people. She raises awareness and money for research and treatment of fibromyalgia. This is a condition that causes long-lasting pain and tiredness. She herself has fibromyalgia.
