A. J. Wynder, born on September 11, 1964, is an American basketball coach. He leads the men's basketball team at Nassau Community College. Before coaching, Wynder was a professional basketball player. He played for the Boston Celtics in the National Basketball Association during the 1990-91 season. He also won a silver medal with the U.S. national team. This happened at the 1995 Pan American Games. Wynder grew up in Freeport, New York, on Long Island.

Playing Basketball in College
Wynder went to Fairfield University. In 1987, he was chosen for the Second Team All-MAAC. He helped his team, the Stags, win two MAAC Championships in a row. They also played in the NCAA Tournament in 1986 and 1987.
In the 1987 MAAC championship game, Wynder made a shot at the last second. This shot sent the game into overtime. Fairfield then beat Iona and went to the NCAA tournament.
Playing Basketball as a Pro
Wynder played for the Boston Celtics in the National Basketball Association during the 1990–91 season. He also played for 10 seasons in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). He played there from 1987 to 1989 and again from 1990 to 1996. Wynder was chosen for the CBA All-Defensive Team three times, from 1991 to 1993. This means he was one of the best defensive players in the league.
Representing the USA in Basketball
Wynder helped the USA team win a silver medal. This was at the 1995 Pan American Games in Mar del Plata, Argentina. During that tournament, Wynder set a record for the U.S. basketball team. He made 8 out of 12 three-point shots, which is 66.7 percent accuracy.
Coaching Basketball Teams
Wynder is the fourth head coach for the men's basketball team at Nassau Community College. He has been coaching there since 1997. Over his time coaching NCC, Wynder has a great record of 208 wins and 86 losses. In 2002, he was named Region XV Coach of the Year. Coach Wynder has led NCC to the championship game three times. These were in 2002, 2006, and 2007.
Before becoming a head coach, Wynder was also a player and assistant coach. He played for the Tri City Chinooks in Washington state from 1993 to 1995.
