When and Where Was It Published?
A Gathering of Spirit first appeared in 1983. It was published as a special edition of a literary magazine called Sinister Wisdom. Later, in 1988, a publishing company named Firebrand Books in New York released it as a full book. It was published again in 1989 by Women's Press in Toronto, Ontario.
The collection featured writing and art from many different women. They ranged in age from 21 to 65 years old. These women came from 40 different Indigenous nations across North America. This wide range of voices made the book very rich and diverse.
