A la nanita nana is a very old and popular Christmas carol from the Hispanic world (countries where Spanish is spoken). It is sung to honor Baby Jesus. Over time, it also became a well-known lullaby to help babies sleep.

Where Did "A la nanita nana" Come From?

The music for the song, originally called La nana, balada al Niño Jesús, was created by José Ramón Gomis. He was born in 1856 in Novelda, a town in Alicante, Spain. The words (lyrics) were written by Juan Francisco Muñoz y Pabón. This beautiful song was first published in 1904.

The Cheetah Girls' Version

In 2006, a shorter version of "A la nanita nana" was recorded by The Cheetah Girls. The group included Raven-Symoné, Adrienne Bailon, Sabrina Bryan, and Kiely Williams. They sang it with Mexican singer Belinda. This version was part of the soundtrack for their movie, The Cheetah Girls 2. You can hear their performance in the film too!
