Aalburg was a municipality in the southern Netherlands. It was located in the province of North Brabant. A municipality is like a local government area.
Aalburg was created in 1973. It was formed by joining three smaller municipalities. These were Eethen, Veen, and Wijk en Aalburg.
On January 1, 2019, Aalburg changed. It joined with two other municipalities. These were Werkendam and Woudrichem. Together, they formed a new, larger municipality. This new area is called Altena.

Cycling Events
Aalburg used to host a special bike race. It was called the 7-Dorpenomloop Aalburg. This race was for elite women cyclists. It took place every year since 2007.
