Werkendam is a town in the southern part of the Netherlands. It used to be its own municipality, which is like a local government area. Werkendam is located in the province of North Brabant.
A big part of the beautiful De Biesbosch nature area was once within the Werkendam municipality. In 2019, Werkendam joined with two other municipalities, Woudrichem and Aalburg, to form a new, larger municipality called Altena.
