Aase Nordmo Løvberg (born June 10, 1923 – died January 25, 2013) was a famous Norwegian opera singer. She was a soprano, which means she sang the highest notes. Many people called her one of Norway's best opera singers ever. She performed with other famous singers like Jussi Björling. She also sang for well-known music leaders, called conductors, such as Herbert von Karajan and Georg Solti.

A Young Singer's Start
Aase Nordmo Løvberg was born in a place called Målselv, Troms, in Norway. This was in 1923. Her family worked as farmers.
Becoming an Opera Star
Aase Nordmo Løvberg started her professional singing career in 1948. Her first big performance was in Oslo at the University of Oslo.
Singing in Stockholm
In 1952, she sang at the Concert Hall in Stockholm. This was during the 1952 Winter Olympics. That same year, she moved to Stockholm, Sweden. She lived there until the 1970s. While in Stockholm, she often performed with other famous singers. These included Jussi Björling and Birgit Nilsson.
International Performances
In 1957, a very famous conductor named Herbert von Karajan asked her to sing. He wanted her to perform at the Vienna State Opera in Austria. She said yes! This was her first big international performance. She sang the role of Sieglinde in an opera called Die Walküre.
That same year, she received a special honor. She was made a knight of the first class for the Order of St. Olav. This is a high award in Norway.
Løvberg also performed at other very famous opera houses. She sang at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. She also performed at the Covent Garden Opera in London.
Teaching and Leading Opera
In 1973, something new happened in Norway. The Norwegian Academy of Music opened. Aase Nordmo Løvberg became Norway's first professor of singing there. This meant she taught other people how to sing opera.
Later, in 1978, she became the director of the Norwegian Opera. This was a very important job. She helped lead and manage the entire opera company.
Later Years and Honors
In 1981, Aase Nordmo Løvberg decided to retire from her job as director of the Opera. That year, she received another high honor. She was named a commander of the Order of St. Olav. This was an even higher award than before.
Aase Nordmo Løvberg spent her last years in Lillehammer, Oppland, Norway. She passed away when she was 89 years old.
She was also a member of the Order of the Polar Star. This is an award from Sweden.
